> Julbo Intensity Kilian Jornet REACTIV are ultralight photochromic sports sunglasses (19 g) built for trail running, uphill running and mountain sports in changing light. The photochromic REACTIV 1–3 High Contrast lenses adjust to the conditions automatically – darkening in direct sun (category 3) and lightening in forest or shade (category 1), with 13–72 % light transmission. The model was developed with Kilian Jornet and is also worn by Slovakia's best trail runner, Peter Fraňo.

## REACTIV photochromic lens

REACTIV is Julbo's photochromic technology – the lens changes its own tint according to how much light reaches it, with no input from the wearer:

- On an open ridge or in direct sun it darkens to category 3 (VLT closer to 13 %)
- In forest, shade or overcast weather it lightens to category 1 within seconds (VLT closer to 72 %)
- One lens therefore covers a whole day outside – no need to swap lenses or carry a second pair
- Filters 100 % of UVA and UVB
- The photochromic coating carries Julbo's lifetime warranty

**The High Contrast version** has a brown-pink tint that lifts contrast and terrain relief – roots, rocks and uneven ground stand out more clearly, which helps most on fast, technical descents.

---

## Lens colour – view from inside vs. look from outside

REACTIV photochromic lenses have two distinct colour properties that don't change with the darkening category (unlike VLT, which does):

| Property | Colour | Description |
|---|---|---|
| **Tint through the lens** (what the wearer sees) | brown-pink | The inner tone of the lens, which shapes colour perception and scene contrast through the glasses. |
| **Outer surface colour** (what others see) | dark blue | The outer mirror/colour coating visible from outside, most pronounced in direct sun. |

This variant is tied to the specific **Dark Brown / Light Brown** frame colour – other frame colours (if offered) may pair a different tint and outer-surface colour.

## Fit and comfort

- **Grip Tech temples** – non-slip inserts built directly into the temples; they don't move through sweat or vibration and don't catch your hair
- **Grip nose pad** – non-slip, holds just as reliably as the temples
- **Thin, flexible temples** – helmet-compatible, fine under a running or cycling helmet
- **Front ventilation** – the shape and cut of the lens channel airflow to keep it from fogging
- **Panoramic lens** – wide field of vision with no optical distortion, unobstructed view to the sides
- **High optical quality** – the image stays sharp across the whole lens, right to the edges, so your eyes tire less over a long effort

---

## Weight, material and origin

- **19 g** – among the lightest sports sunglasses in their class
- Frame made of **Rilsan**, a bio-based plastic produced from the castor bean rather than oil
- Robust lens and frame construction stands up to falls, sweat and everyday use in demanding mountain environments
- Made in Europe, in Julbo's workshops in the Jura region of France

## Kilian Jornet and Peter Fraňo

The model was developed with **Spanish mountain runner Kilian Jornet**, one of the most prominent figures in skyrunning and ultra-trail.

The same glasses are worn by **Peter Fraňo**, currently Slovakia's best trail runner:
- Winner of the 2025 Transvulcania Ultramarathon
- Bronze medallist at the 2023 Trail Running World Championships (80 km)
- Winner of the 2022 Madeira Skyrace
- Runner-up at CCC by UTMB 2024

Peter Fraňo also offers individual coaching tailored to the client's fitness and racing goals (website: [peterfrano.com](https://peterfrano.com/)).

## Who they're for

**Type of athlete:**
- Trail runners and uphill runners
- Skyrunners and ultra-trailers
- Road and mountain cyclists
- Cross-country skiers

**What you do:**
- Training and racing in changing light (ridges, forests, open terrain)
- Fast, technical descents where terrain is hard to read without enough contrast
- Activities under a helmet (cycling, some mountain sports)

**Why Intensity Kilian Jornet REACTIV:**
- One lens covers a whole day outside without swapping lenses
- Ultralight construction (19 g) – you barely feel them on your face during activity
- A reliable hold, even through sweat and fast movement
- Proven at the top level of skyrunning and ultra-trail

---

## Size and fit

The glasses are made in size **M (Medium)** only, built for an average-width adult face:

- The 136 mm frame width should roughly match the width of your face from temple to temple
- If regular adult sunglasses fit you well, this model will fit too
- The 14 mm bridge width and 130 mm temple length are extra measurements for comparison with your existing glasses
- No smaller (S) or larger (L) size is available – for a distinctly narrow or wide face the fit may be less precise
